What to wear
What to wear is the number one question clients have when they’re getting ready for the session. These are some general guidelines, but they aren’t hardfast rules. At the end of the day, you call the shots on your clothing and I”ll make sure you look amazing.
- Wear something temperature appropriate
- Sweaters and thermal base layers in winter
- Location appropriate clothes
- Shorts and bare feet at the beach
- Cocktail attire in the city or downtown
- Flannel, denim and boots for the woods
- Seasonally appropriate
- Shirts/shorter hemlines in the summer
- Sweaters and scarves in the fall
- Transitional pieces in the spring
- Pick outfit in its entirety, not as separate pieces
- Complementary colors between people
- Coordinate patterns between each other
- Solids go with solids, stripes with stripes, flannel with flannel
- Dress upward
- Dressing fancier is the easiest way to spruce up the photos

- Haircuts less than 72 hours before session
- Bare arms
- Sleeves or something covering your arms can have a slimming effect in the photos
- Sexy shoes
- If they hurt your feet too much, it can effect your session
